Do you like scary movies? Do you like Halloween? Then come hang out with me and mine at [livejournal.com profile] candycorncomm! The purpose of this meme is both Friending and Recruiting--finding some new contributers in time for the annual 31 Days of Halloween Movie Marathon, and just tracking down some awesome people to chat with (which is why I'm putting this in my regular journal, as opposed to the community itself). So check it out, read some of the past reviews and discussions, and I hope to see you around!

Rhoda's been a busy girl.

Firstly, the birthday haul: )

And on the LJ front:

I may need to f'lock this sumbitch. I didn't see the need for it previously, but now I do. So just...keep that in mind. If you're already on my f'list, then no worries, but if you've tagged me for whatever reason and I haven't tagged you back, there's a reason for it. I do have all those "Friends Only" banners that I made in an old graphix spam, even though I wasn't planning on using one myself, so I can pop one up no problem.

New discussion up over at Halloween Candy: Women in Horror. I hope to be one someday, so this is something I'm more than a little invested in. Come chat with us!

And random, annoying thing: I downloaded iTunes for PaqMan here, and hooked up my iPod Shuffle, but apparently this "syncing" thing is a one-way street. Meaning, you can move music from iTunes onto a device, but not the other way around. At least, not unless it's music that you've purchased directed from iTunes in the first place. This is aggravating to say the least, because while I'm a strong advocate against illegal downloading, there are other ways to get free music--such as reviewing stuff for ezines, which I've done, and getting freebies from artists' websites as promotional tools--and even beyond that, I have some CDs that have been damaged, lost, or otherwise fucked up that I backed up on the old lappy, and now I don't know how to transfer them onto here. I am disappoint! Help?

Anywho, now it's time to shower and watch another vampire movie. Or Jacob's Ladder. I'm kinda in the mood for Crazy Tim Robbins.

Hey gang! There's so much that I could conceivably blog about right now, I don't even know where to start.

My continuing Coming Out adventure, New Lappy, the Vampire Marathon and B-day stuff )

I'm still reeling over my OMG from last time, and I have good reason: the upcoming film, The Joneses, is one of the projects Screenwriter Guy name-dropped when we were talking last week, not only a real film with a real company, but it stars Demi Moore and David Duchovney and is currently 71% Fresh on RottenTomatoes.com. *GLEEEEE* XD XD XD It's a limited release, but HELL to the YEAH!

However, I have more news than just that, mostly LJ-related. )

Yes, I do. Me and Mom both. Black electric tape is made of awesome.

Curious? Of course you are. )

WOOO!!!! *happy dance* I love birthdays. I don't even know what I want this year--well, apart from [livejournal.com profile] seanan_mcguire's latest, because that comes out very shortly after my b-day, but I'm gonna get that myself with one of the giftcards I always get from someone.

Did anyone get April Fool'd this year? I didn't. Unless you count The Fates, because I got fucked over royally trying to get to work yesterday.

More ranting under the cut )

I has a new theme! (By the way, if anyone knows a simpler way to figure out which themes will allow you a header, please let tell me. What I'm doing now is just trying on different ones and crossing my fingers, going back each time if I don't get a "Enter Image URL Here" option.) I know I've said it before, but Emma Watson sure is growing up nice. In fact, if she's still able to pass as a teenager when I sell the movie rights to my WIP, she'd make a great Rachel. (That's my MC.)

Speaking of which, I finished Draft 1! *happy dance* It's called "Hoppers" by the by.

Let me lay a synopsis on ya: )

(I'm including that blurb in Draft 1 of my query. Whaddya think?)

So, I've been noticing all the books slowly but surely piling up around me, waiting to be read. Does anyone else have that problem? I do have a book report pending, and I know that I don't tend to read a lot when I'm working on a novel, but still--when I look at the sheer size of this stack, it feels like I haven't even made a dent in my overall reading.

Here's what's in my stack at this very moment: )

And that's not even counting the comic books and other crap I picked up at MarsCon two months ago. Eeeesh. It looks even more daunting looking at all spelled out like that.

In addition to the book report, I'm planning a big fat post of several capsule reviews to put up on the Movie Buffs community. One thing I always seem to be able to make time for is watching movies. I'm not sure whether that's good or bad.

In the meantime, it's a new week over at Halloween Candy, and now we're talking about funny horror movies. Not comedy horror, necessarily, but anything that makes you laugh--regardless of whether it's meant to or not. Come play with us!

It doesn't really, but that's what I'm watching right now. I kinda wish I'd seen this before I graduated from college, but it's oddly relevant now. In a hilarious yet terrifying way. And the craziest part is Winona Ryder in this is EXACTLY like my college roommate, down to her little mannerisms and the way she talks.

SO! In case you haven't been following it, my Halloween Candy community is up and running again. I'm trying to field a discussion on zombie movies and why they're enjoying a resurgance in popularity right now. If you have thoughts, I would LOVE to hear them!

I randomly went into the FYE up here yesterday, and guess what? They sell vinyls. Guess what else? They have a LIMITED EDITION printed-on-pink vinyl of Razorblade Romance that is so totally mine after Tuesday when I get my paycheck. Oh yeah. I'm gonna keep an eye on that store from now on.

WIP update: 48k, a little bit stuck though. I'm getting very near the end, which is good, but I'm unsure of how to shake it all out. As long as the words keep coming, I guess I'm okay. *fingers crossed*

Coming Out Adventure update: much, much, MUCH better now. After a few days of being distant and weird, Mom figured out I hadn't actually changed at all, and that she's still my best friend. In fact, today she told me a secret about herself that she's been angsting over for . . . hell, I don't even know how long, and we had this long heart-to-heart about all kinds of things. This might sound weird, but I feel like a grown up for the first time in my life. And it's really, really nice.

I have many, many icons and "friends only" banners than I'm planning to post shortly, many fandoms. Keep an eye out.
